Project Procurement Buyer - Tamworth - £30,000 - £34,000

Oakley Recruitment is working in partnership with an expanding organisation based in Tamworth. This is an excellent opportunity to join the team as a Project Procurement Buyer on a full-time, permanent basis.

Our client is looking for individuals with exceptional persuasion and negotiation skills. They will be confident and driven with a passion to succeed.

Although desirable, previous buying experience isn’t essential. If you have fire in your belly,  thrive under pressure and adapt to various situations this role is ideal for you. Excellent organizational skills and a good team player are also highly desirable!


  • Monday to Friday

  • 37.5 hours per week

Job Role

  • Managing projects from inception to product introduction, including supplier selection, quotation assessment, and sample approval

  • Negotiating improved prices and business terms with suppliers

  • Research, select, and procure quality products and materials

  • Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers

  • Coordinating with the supply chain team, management, and warehouse

  • Monitoring stock quality and address discrepancies with suppliers and management

  • Analysing data to determine industry and consumer trends

  • Create and develop a strategic long-term plan for category development

  • Developing exit strategies for unsuccessful products

  • Strengthen relationships with key suppliers to improve pricing and service quality

  • Lead category management projects to optimise product ranges

  • Collaborate with buyers and sales to expand product categories

  • Assist commercial teams in creating forecasts for product demand to maintain inventory sustainability

  • Establish new suppliers, conducting necessary assessments, factory audits, and compliance checks for initial orders

  • Develop strong working relationships with internal teams

  • Preparing reports and updates for internal stakeholders

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Ability to make decisions

  • Good mathematical skills

  • Proficient in MS Office
